Themed Issue - Advances in histamine pharmacology reveal new drug target. Br. J. Pharmacology (April 2009, in press) 6 published articles on H4 receptor research by COST members & collaborators

Funding - BJA/RcoA Prize studentship: Dr Paul L Chazot (collaboration with Dr Andy Medhurst (GSK) and Professor George Lees (non-COST member) Defining the role & therapeutic potential of the histamine H4 receptor (H4R) in acute chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain (Rated top application for 2009)

First H4 receptor antagonist in the clinic - Palau Pharma is developing the first reported H4R antagonist for the treatment of allergic respiratory disorders. The regulatory preclinical package to support clinical trials up to 28 days treatment has also been completed. The development candidate UR-63325 has finished the phase I first-in-man clinical trial with promising interim data.
